Here is a short report from TV Kultura (Culture TV) about Russian art in London. This type of job is quite interesting from a narration point of view. What do you do when you have a number of characters, talking heads (of both sexes) and only have one voice over artist? It’s obviously ridiculous for the narrator to attempt different voices, particularly those of the opposite sex! The answer is to go for a translation style, where you use a fairly flat and even delivery, much like an announcer. However, it mustn’t be monotonous – it has to have the correct amount of pressure and nuance to keep the listener’s attention. Incidentally, I recorded the piece in my home studio.
